I Blink and it’s Nearly Two Years…

Evidently, I’ve really fallen off the blogging bandwagon.  All my blogs sit sadly neglected.  Adding child six to the mix (and a preemie, no less) threw us for a loop!  How on earth do I find time to blog (rest assured, I have written many a blog in my head).

Here’s a two year recap:

I gave birth to a beautiful 4 lb preemie girl and we spent 18 days in the NICU.  She came home and life had a new normal.

Mama is more sleep deprived than she’s ever been in her life. (Hello, older motherhood…)

Mama is experiencing an extremely high level of stress with very poor stress management.

Mama became REALLY sick in May 2014… following a colonoscopy, a bunch of tests, and numerous specialists, my gallbladder was removed.

Exactly one week post op– we drove the family to Disneyland (16 hours in the van with six children).  It was a wonderful, glorious, fun filled week.

Our beautiful peanut turned one.

Mama decides that leaving the world of being a daycare provider and buying a children’s resale store is the path to less stress…

Mama was so very wrong and the store was a NIGHTMARE… a very expensive nightmare.

The store goes away… the debt stays.

Mama’s stress level is as high as ever…

Mama is back to providing in home childcare.

Five tots aged 3 mo- 2 years is A LOT to deal with on a daily basis.

Our precious angel girl turned TWO YEARS OLD!!!!  She’s still a tiny sprite- only 18lbs 9oz and 31″.

Mama’s health is still in the crapper… evidently it wasn’t my gallbladder.

Mama gains 30 lbs in the year following gallbladder removal.

Mama is sick and tired of being sick and tired (and fat…).

I’ve spent the last several months trying to regain control of my health.  Since the gallbladder removal, I’ve had to eat less healthy fats (because, hey no gallbladder means fat digestion is a problem)… which means I’ve had to eat more carbs… more carbs equal weight gain and anxiety for this mama.

I have narrowed down the problem foods– banana, coconut milk, nuts (all including flours), beef (except small quantities), spice (tacos… sad), tomatoes and tomato products, large quantities of raw veggies (this is improving- for a while I couldn’t eat any raw veggies), eggs (a former staple in my paleo diet), and oats. If I eat any of these foods, I get a couple reactions– eggs, banana, and oats cause SEVERE abdominal pain– I feel like I’m going to vomit (it actually feels very similar to what I was told was gallbladder attacks). If I have tomato products or spice, I get blisters in my mouth and swollen lips.  If I have nuts, I get more of an acid reflux feeling (sometimes with the vomit in the mouth sensation).  Anyway, none of this is pleasant!  It does confirm that I need to follow an Autoimmune Protocol… so here I am… launching the AIP.  I am allowing coffee, minimal cacao, and full fat dairy to stay because I have eliminated them previously and feel like I know my limits.  If I don’t feel enough improvement at the end of the first 30 days, then I will remove them again…
